How to check camera’s Shutter Priority?
It is not always obvious that an electronically controlled shutter is malfunctioning, especially if it operates on shutter priority auto mode. At least not obvious until the film is developed and is overexposed or underexposed. The ris a simple way to check camera shutter priority auto mode. Set the camera to 1 second, and make sure the 1 second shutter speed is within the range of the light being gathered by the lens, then fire the shutter. If the shutter opens and close within one seconde, everything is fine. If it’s faster (1 /60 sec, 1/1000 sec…), you just discovered that the camera’s shutter priority auto mode has failed. Switch to manual mode, or aperture priority until the camera is fixed by a camera shop.
